As a newcomer to Canada, it is important to know the historical relationships settlers in Canada have built with the Indigenous peoples. This workshop will walk participants through a brief historical timeline, key terms/definitions, and the reality of residential schools.

You will learn:

● The definitions of key terms like colonialism, settlement, genocide, Indigenous persons

● Learn about the history of Canadian colonialism + ongoing violence

● Learn about the residential school system and institutional violence
