ABOUT GOLDEN HORIZONS

Golden Horizons: Empowering Senior Women Program is designed, developed, and implemented by senior immigrant women for senior immigrant women.

Funded by the Ministry of Employment and Social Development of Canada and administered by Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto (NEW), our program is a continuation of  NEW’s commitment to serve senior immigrant women. The program is structured to equip senior women with the necessary tools, knowledge, and networks to empower them, with a focus on their emotional, physical, and mental well-being.

Program OBJECTIVES

  1. Supporting social participation and inclusion of seniors.

  2. Promoting volunteerism amongst seniors and other generations

  3. Celebrating diversity and inclusion by serving a diverse group of senior women.

Program COMPONENTS

Participants will engage in a 12-week program, meeting weekly, with some sessions conducted in

person and others online. The program will cover the 3 main components with a focus on digital

literacy:

1. Mental Health Component

2. Physical Health Component

3. Spiritual Health Component

 

WhO SHOULD JOIN THIS Program?

  • Senior immigrant women who want to build new networks with their peers.

  • Senior immigrant women who have a keen interest in supporting others to combat loneliness and ageism.

    AND WHO: 

  • Are  65+ years old. 

  • Live in Toronto, Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

  • Are willing to commit to 2- 3 hours per week.
