Building Ontario by Doubling Economic Immigration

TORONTO (ONTARIO) March 20, 2023 Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto (NEW) is pleased to announce that we attended the special announcement to 'Building Ontario by Doubling Economic Immigration.' We appreciate and thank Minister Monte McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development and Minister Sean Fraser, Federal Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship for recognizing immigrant’s significant contributions to Ontario’s economic growth and prosperity.

“Increasing immigration levels will only have positive impacts on our province, including boosting our economy, addressing labour market needs, and enhancing cultural diversity. We look forward to continuing working with all stakeholders including governments, community partners and policy makers to support immigrant labour market inclusion and advancement ” says Sara Asalya, Executive Director, NEW.

“As we remain focused on addressing the acute labour market shortages and building a strong economy into the future, one thing remains certain: immigration is a key part of the solution,” said Sean Fraser, Federal Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship. “As Canada’s flagship regional economic immigration program, the Provincial Nominee Program's increasing growth will support the long-term well-being of communities in Ontario. I am grateful for the outstanding working relationship I have with Minister McNaughton and look forward to continuing to work with the province to achieve our shared economic immigration objectives."

Rarely do we see strong coordinated efforts between different levels of governments unified with a single vision. NEW is excited by this announcement as it ties in with our mission to increase the economic advancement of immigrants and refugees moving to establish lives in Canada.
