Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC)
NEW offers LINC levels 1-6.
Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto (NEW) has been delivering the LINC program since 1992. LINC is funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). The LINC program at NEW follows the official CIC curriculum. A certificate is issued to each candidate upon successful completion of each LINC level.

The LINC Program at Newcomer Women Services Toronto provides a supportive environment for women to learn to live their new lives in English. There are classes every week day from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for LINC levels 1 to 6 classes, including one class for women aged 60 and over.
These classes offer women a chance to learn about themselves and explore their new country through a rigorous curriculum, skills workshops, field trips and presentations by guest speakers.

LINC focuses on the 5 most important skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing as well as numeracy.
Students learn how to use English in daily life including banking, shopping, finding a doctor and looking for work. Students also learn about Canadian history, geography, politics and culture.
The program offers field trips of interest and workshops on a variety of topics including assertiveness, employment, taxes, housing and parenting skills. Our participants find these skills immensely helpful in their settlement experience.
